Tungsten Carbide Drag Bit

Introduction

Tungsten carbide drag bit is a kind of drilling bit usually used for the upper part of the soft ground in oil drilling. It has many advantages, such as simple structure, convenient manufacturing, low cost and can remarkably improve the mechanical drilling speed.

Types

There is double-wing, three-wing, four-wing or more (such as LX10). Three-wing is the commonest used;
According to the shape of the bottom panel, it can be divided into step-shaped (inner, outer, flat) and non-step, which edge inlayed tungsten carbide or diamond;
According to the different applications, it can be divided into core drill and non-core drill.

Notice

1. Prevent the gauge of drill from destroying when loading or unloading, especially for diamond drag bit;
2. Use low rotating speed and low WOB at the beginning to protect the drill bit and casing;
3. Use the set WOB until the drill collar all into the bore incase of well deviation;
4. Check the weight indicator regularly incase of too large WOB or slip drilling;
5. In the end of drilling, we should be notice that the changes of pump pressure and ROP in case of the bit blunt or broken.
